Garrick S4
The Garrick S4 is the company’s most accessible high-end model, however, its comparative affordability does not mean it lacks the firm’s legendary hand craftsmanship.
It all starts with the dial which is hand frosted and rhodium-plated. Ink-filled Roman numerals are presented on a circular-brushed and applied hour track. The steel hour and minute hands are available in a choice of finishes, including grained, polished or heat blued. A generously proportioned, small-seconds display is positioned at 6 o’clock. It features a heat-blued hand rotating above Garrick’s own interpretation of a sunburst motif. The central area of the dial and small-seconds display are frosted and evince a slightly different shade, heightening the model’s visual appeal.
The case is formed of 904L stainless steel, a grade that provides superior scratch-resistance and a notably brilliant gleam. Alternatively, an 18-carat gold case is also available. The case measures 42mm in diameter with a depth of 10mm. The sapphire crystal is treated with anti-reflective coating, augmenting legibility, while the exhibition case back affords views of the beautifully appointed hand-wound movement.
Unlike Garrick’s costlier models which feature the brand’s proprietary movement, the S4 is equipped with a Swiss calibre. However, this movement is modified by Garrick and includes the brand’s own bridges as well as rhodium-plated and hand-frosted surfaces. The movement is endowed with a traditional screwed balance. The S4 is tested and regulated in Garrick’s workshop, ensuring the daily variance does not exceed +3 seconds.
Engine turned dial
This is identical to its aforementioned sibling save for the following specification changes. This model features an engine-turned dial, sometimes termed ‘guilloché’ – available in a choice of rhodium or gold plate finishes.
A fitting conclusion
Both versions of the Garrick S4 are available with a choice of handmade straps, including alligator, calf leather, buffalo or ostrich leather. The straps are paired with a stainless steel pin buckle, delivering a sumptuous fit with the wearer’s wrist.
In common with all Garrick watches, the S4 is made to order, allowing the firm to accede to personalisation requests.
